Answer :

The temperature of the steam is same as that of water boiling inside the kettle.

But the steam carries more heat, as it contains latent heat of vaporisation.  That is a lot of heat.  When the steam touches the body, it condenses, then the latent heat of vaporisation touches the body.


the temperature of steam was equal to the temperature of water, because the steam had more heat than water which was in the form of latent heat which was used up to change liquid to gas. that is why she felt intense heat from the puff of steam though the temperature was same.
