In a bag containing white and red balls, half the number of white balls is equal to the one third the number of red balls. Twice the total number of balls exceeds three times the number of red balls by 8. How many balls of each type does the bag contain?

Let there be x  no. of red balls and y no. of white balls

So, x/2 = y/3
or, 3x = 2y

2(x + y) = 3x + 8
or, 2x + 2y = 3x + 8
or, 2x + 3x = 3x + 8
or, 2x = 8
or, x =4

So, y = 3*4/2 = 6

So, there are 4 red balls and 6 white balls

white balls = 16 red balls =24
