1.The Vernier caliper is an extremely precise measuring instrument

2.Close the jaws lightly on the object to be measured.

3.If you are measuring something with a round cross section, make sure that the axis of the object is perpendicular to the caliper.

For measuring the length of some rod or something else,place the rod between the two lower jaws and measure the reading in the M.S (main scale)as well as in the V.S(vernier scale).
For measuring the inner diameter place the hollow tube in such a way that the two upper jaws comes inside its mouth and then measure and note the readings  .
To measure depth the depth of a vessel use the strip at the end insert it inside the vessel and then measure and note the reading.
