Answer :

300 students play football and 270 volleyball.
120 students plays both.
Now see,
1)  who play anly football-  300-120= 180
2) who plays only volleyball-  270-120= 150
3)  total no. Of students are- 180+150= 330

Given,

A school with students who play either football or volleyball.

300 students play football and 270 students play volleyball.

120 students play both football and volleyball.

To Find,

The number of students who only play football, volleyball and total number of students in the school.

Solution,

Since the number of students playing football and volleyball is given along with the number of students who play both,

⇒  The number of students playing football includes the number of students who play both football and volleyball.

Similarly the number students playing volleyball as stated includes the number of students who play both football and volleyball.

No of students who only play football = 300 - 120 = 180

⇒ No of students who only play volleyball = 270 - 120 = 150

The total number of students in the school = 180+150+120 = 450

Henceforth, the number of students playing only football is 180, the number of students playing only volleyball is 150 and the total number of students in the school is 450.
