HOW DO CHROMOSOME NUMBER REMAIN SAME AFTER REPLICATION OF DNA IN S-PHASE OF MITOSIS ?

Answer :

Replication of DNA refers to formation of two daughter DNA from the parent one. During S-phase by replication the DNA no is doubled consequently the chromosome no. gets doubled. Therefore each of the two cells produced from the parent cell receives half of that double content ( 1/2 x 2n = n) i.e. no of chromosome remains the same as that of the parent.
