let number of 500 rupees notes = x
let number of 100 rupees notes = y

total notes = 200
x+y = 200
⇒x = 200-y

total amount = 50000
500x + 100y = 50000
⇒500(200-y) + 100y = 50000
⇒100000 - 500 y + 100y = 50000
⇒ -400y = 50000-100000 = -50000
⇒ y = -50000/(-400) 
⇒ y = 125 (no. of 100 rupees note)
   x = 200-y =200-125 = 75(no. of 500 rupees note)
