Ahmed buys a plot of land for Rs96000 , he sell 2/5 of it at a loss of 6%. At what gain percent should he sell the remaining part of the plot to gain 10% on the whole.

Answer :

Cost of land =96000
He has sold 2/5 land and amount he got =2×96000×0.94/5
                                                           =36096
To gain 10% profit he has to get total of = 96000×1.1
                                                           =105600
selling 3/5 of land he has to get=105600-36096=69504
cost of 3/5 land=96000×3/5=57600
Gain % =100×(69504-57600)/57600=20.66
He should sell the land at 20.66 gain.

C.P of the total land => Rs 96000

C.P of ⅖ th part of the land:-

=> 96000 × 2/5

=> 19200 × 2

=> 38400

S.P on loss 6% :-

=> C.P × 100 - loss

=> 38400 × 100 - 6/100

=> 384 × 100 - 6

=> 384 × 94

=> 36096

For gaining 10% on whole:-

=> S.P = C.P + 10% of C.P

=> S.P = 96000 + 10 × 96000/100

=> S.P = 96000 + 10 × 960

=> S.P = 96000 + 9600

=> S.P = Rs 105600

:-S.P of ⅖ th part of the land=> Rs 36096

:-S.P of ⅗ th part of the land should be Rs

=> 105600 - 36096
