Iron was not used in the Harappan cities instead metals like copper, gold and bronze were more predominant in that era. Pure copper (unalloyed copper) was extensively familiar to the Indus Valley people and silver made initial appearance during this era only. Harappans procured raw material from other neighbouring countries like Silver from Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq; Lead from Kashmir, Rajasthan; Gold was obtained from Karnataka and Copper from Rajasthan. Iron was actually not known to Indus Valley Civilization people.
